We fulfill wishes, we transform lives.

…because every child who suffers from a critical illness has the right to live the transformative power of a wish coming true!

Make-A-Wish grants wishes that have the power to transform the lives of children with critical illnesses. A wish is an inherent part of the healing journey, that’s why we are committed to granting the wish of every child that meets our criteria. Research shows that children whose wish has been granted can regain the physical and emotional strength they need to go through very serious illnesses.

Make-A-Wish was founded in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1980 and it is the leading organization granting wishes of children in the entire world.

With offices in more than 50 countries and more than 40,000 volunteers, it has granted more than 450,000 wishes globally—every 17 minutes a child’s wish comes true somewhere in the world.

In Greece, generous sponsors, supporters, employees and 300 volunteers around the country have joined forces and grant on average one wish every 40 hours. Since its creation in 1996, Make-A-Wish Greece has granted more than 2,020 wishes, 245 of which in 2018

Our mission

Together, we grant wishes that have the power to transform the lives of children with critical illnesses

Our values

Our values serve as the map to attain our vision of granting the wish of every eligible child. They are a clear guide to our priorities and lead the way in everything we do.

Child Focus: We always put the children of the wish first

Integrity: We are honest, transparent and respectful

Impact: We deliver life-changing work

Innovation: We are bold, imaginative and creative

Community: We are a diverse group of people working together towards a common goal

Our vision

To grant the wish of every child aged 3–18 who faces a critical illness and meets our criteria.

On March 6, 1997, the first wish of a child in Greece came true—the Wish of Andreas, whose words are always with us:
“If an unbelievable dream of yours has come true, then the dream to become healthy again appears to be much closer.”
