Make-A-Wish is today one of the most recognized and trusted charitable organizations worldwide and has been acknowledged by the United Nations for its work and impact. It is an organization with one clear and singular purpose: granting wishes to children facing critical illnesses. For administrative and operational reasons, it is divided into two entities: Make-A-Wish America, which coordinates wish granting across all 50 states through 62 chapters in the U.S., and Make-A-Wish International, which oversees the organization’s offices across 5 continents and more than 50 countries, with 180 chapters outside the United States.
Make-A-Wish International has been honored with the Seal of Excellence, a highly prestigious distinction awarded to only 2,000 nonprofit organizations out of more than 1,000,000 operating globally. This recognition is given to organizations that stand out for their transparency, responsible financial management, and effectiveness in achieving their mission.
In addition, it has been awarded by Charity Navigator, the largest independent evaluator of charitable organizations—a distinction granted to only 1% of nonprofits worldwide—affirming the organization’s reliability and consistency in its governance and operations.
In 2020, Make-A-Wish Greece ranked among the top organizations in the field of “Social Inclusion – Welfare” out of 53 NGOs evaluated under the program “THALES II – Mapping & Evaluation of Greek Nonprofit Organizations.” The assessment was based on three criteria: Effectiveness, Governance, and Transparency.
