Gold September 2025
What is Gold September?
September, the month that turns golden, is dedicated to raising awareness about childhood and adolescent cancer. A month that reminds us that every child is precious like gold and that their strength and resilience can inspire the whole world.
The story of Annie and G9
It all started with Annie Bartosz, an 11-year-old girl who lost her twin brother to cancer in 2012. In his memory, she created G9 (Golden 9), because September is the 9th month of the year and the color gold symbolizes the unique value and resilience of children battling illness.
G9 aimed to “paint” the world gold, bringing light and hope through their stories. G9 aims to spread the stories of children with cancer in order to inform and raise awareness.
Children who inspire us
Today, we continue this journey.
Through the “Short Stories of Strength” initiative, five children whose wish was granted some time ago, share their experiences with courage, hope, and optimism:
- How they experienced their diagnosis and battle with cancer.
- What the granting of their wish meant to them.
- What their lives are like today.
Vasiliki, Giannis, Eleni, Kostis, and Fotini are not just telling a story. They are sharing a powerful message: even the greatest difficulties can be turned into strength, life goes on with courage, and joy is reborn.
These “Short Stories of Strength” are stories that inspire and light our way with strength and optimism.
Watch the videos, share the stories, and help us reach every child who needs us.
