I wish to have a puppy – Angelos, 9, type 1 diabetes mellitus

When we asked Angelos what was the wish he wanted us to grant him, he was very certain that what he desired more than anything else was having a puppy! The two of them would be inseparable and best friends. Everyone saw that his face lit up with excitement whenever he spoke about his wish!

The fairy told Angelos that it would take some time before he would get the dog, but he was very determined and willing to wait patiently… one thing he knew for sure: that he would name his dog Jelly!

A couple of days after his fairy had informed him that the dog’s arrival would be delayed, she told him that he had to go to a pet shop where he would purchase all the necessary accessories and items for the puppy’s wellbeing. So a rendezvous was arranged and Angelos met up with another fairy at the pet shop. When they were, their shopping was constantly interrupted by another “annoying” customer, who kept asking questions to the salesperson that was assisting them. Angelos wondered who this lady was. You see, he had no idea that this lady was his fairy! He was also unaware that at the same time, preparations were happening for the big surprise in his house!

After they purchased everything, they needed for the puppy, they returned home. When Angelos got to his house, there was a garland decorated with ready-made jelly packs. When he saw it, he started wondering what was going on and that is when his friends came out of his house with the puppy. Angelos was so surprised and could not realize that this was happening even when he held Jelly in his arms! Finally, the ready-made jelly packs made sense; it was a pun with the puppy’s name!

Even though Angelos is clever and as his father later told us, his family usually can not get a surprise for him because he figures our that something is up, the fairies managed to set up the biggest surprise for him without him picking up anything. And so, they made him believe in fairies; even the ones without wings!
