George, due to his diagnosis, has been staying in Athens lately, at the Floga hostel. He misses his island a lot and above all he misses the life and carefree moments he had there. Consequently, he is depressed (he doesn’t eat, he doesn’t want to leave the room, he doesn’t laugh) … As his state of health did not allow us to do any activity, we organized a big surprise for him: we brought his best friend with his mum to Athens!
Of course, George didn’t know anything about it. In fact, his mum had told him that they were going to see a doctor. Arriving on the 24th floor of a tower block in Athens, and absolutely confused about where they were going, George saw his best friend in front of him! He ran into his arms and that moment was very emotionally charged for everyone present there. His friend was equally happy and touched to be reunited with George.
At once his psychology improved so much that he didn’t stop eating, laughing, asking his parents to take them for a walk and generally he became a very happy child.
But surprises were not over……
Back in his room, at the hostel, he found his computer! He was thrilled and kept asking his mum for how long she had been arranging all this behind his back.
Together with his dear friend, they spent the whole day until late at night.
His mother told us the next day “My child is flying!”. And these words gave us wings to fly with joy as well!
But his friend’s mother also touched us saying characteristically “You are a breath of fresh air!”
