WORLD WISH DAY 2025
A week of light-ups and walks all over Greece for World Wish Day by the families and children of Make-A-Wish Greece!
April 29th – World Wish Day – is a milestone date for Make-A-Wish worldwide and marks the anniversary of the granting of the first wish, Chris’s wish, who, 45 years ago, became a police officer for a day. Chris served as an inspiration for the creation of the organization (you can read more here). This day is celebrated every year in 50 countries around the world in a special and spectacular way.
Make-A-Wish Greece, from April 26 to May 3, is organizing consecutive walks in 14 cities across the country, the Walk for Wishes 2025. This year, thanks to an initiative by wish children’s families, the walk will take place in Athens, Chania, Heraklion, Andros, Aigio, Nafplio, Larissa, Trikala, Veria, Ioannina, Ptolemaida, Corfu, Drama, and Thessaloniki. These walks will be held in the evening so we can light up the Greek sky from end to end in Make-A-Wish blue colour, using our special glowing armbands. The walks will be led by wish children and their families. Through these symbolic walks, we will honor the wish-children who have battled serious illnesses and recovered, those who are still fighting, and the memory of those who lit our path.
The walks will be held in collaboration with local Municipalities (see details below), who will illuminate landmarks or monuments in the cities to mark the finish lines of the routes.
Of course, the traditional light-ups by other municipalities will not be missing either, as a symbolic show of support for the celebration of this important day, on April 29th itself.
Participation is free of charge, and we encourage those who wish to support the cause to get our glowing armband via www.makeawish–eshop.gr or from our offices (Ethnikis Antistaseos 47, Dafni), available from April 15.
Wear something blue and come walk with us!
